Where the harmony of nature meets timeless design. Inspired by the undulating rye fields of the Nordic landscape, every piece is a tribute to simplicity, strength and natural beauty. Created with work and love, these pieces carry a story of down-to-earth roots and Nordic culture. Perfect for you who value the unique, the simple and the genuine.
Some ideas come flying like blows through the air and demand to become reality. Others need to lie like dried seeds deep within the mind, until one day they tumble out and land somewhere, hopefully in a place where they can sprout and grow. Like RÅG, a collection of handmade jewellery from Guldviva.
Guldviva’s RÅG collection was launched just in time for the Harvest Festival in 2019, but it was born long ago. The idea took its starting point in two classic literary works, Anni Blomqvist’s Stormskerry Maja and Vilhelm Moberg’s The Emigrants. “I didn’t read the books at the same time, but they both struck me with the same insight into how enormously important rye was for survival in the old days. As soon as you settled down and as soon as the soil grew warm, the grain had to be sown. Without it you could not manage,” says Maria Karlström, head goldsmith at Guldviva.
Rye has been cultivated in our country for thousands of years and is the hardiest of all our four cereals. Resilient against cold and pests, nutritious and filling. The dried bread baked from rye also did not spoil as quickly as other bread, but could be carried along on long hunting trips and journeys.
